A new luxury inn is set to make its debut next year in Shandaken, marking the first move into the high-end hospitality sector for public figure, Jay Jacobs.
Shandaken Inn will open its doors in February 2020 following a complete renovation of the 15-bedroom property, spearheaded by Jacobs, the chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee, and interior design company AY Designs.
The launch cements Jacobs’ first venture into the luxury sector, having already made his mark as CEO and major owner of TLC Family of Camps & Inns, with the brand dominating the billion dollar camp industry.
Originally built in the late 1920s as the clubhouse for the renowned former Rip Van Winkle Golf Course, Shandaken Inn has been welcoming guests to the northern Catskills for nearly 100 years.
Set on 12 acres of country grounds, the Inn’s 15 bedrooms feature design elements such as La Lune and Old Hickory furniture, textured wallpapers from Phillip Jeffries, fireplaces, amenities inclusive of Frette linens and bathrobes and mountain vistas from each room.
“Restored to its former glory with all of the contemporary touches modern day travelers expect, the Inn is poised to enchant, amaze and excite in its revival as a charming Catskills home away from home,” said Jacobs. “We’re excited to begin welcoming guests, or as we will call them, ‘our friends,’ to their new second home in the mountains this winter.”
Alongside its 15 bedrooms, the Inn is also home to a swimming pool, fitness center and offers activities such as hiking and tennis.
