The coronavirus pandemic is causing the closure of hotels across the country, according to a new report from the New York Post.
Even the largest hotel in New York, the 1,878- room New York Hilton Midtown, is set to close.
The situation has seen President Donald Trump, head of his own luxury hotel chain, meet with hotel executives.
Reports suggest a relief aid package could be drawn up to help major players in the industry, with Best Western, Hyatt and others proclaiming their support.
Hilton chief executive Christopher Nassetta has stated that this is the first closure in the brand’s long history that is not related to a demolition or refurbishment.
Meanwhile other hoteliers report properties running at only 5% occupancy in recent weeks.
