Fitness brand Equinox puts its weight behind launch of first hotel in New York


Fitness brand Equinox has opened its hotly-anticipated first hotel in New York.

The new hotel in Hudson Yards in the city marks the company’s hospitality debut in the US with further development teased in Houston, Los Angeles and Chicago.

The hotel spans 14 floors of a limestone and glass residential skyscraper designed by architecture firm, SOM and comprises 212 bedrooms, and an Electric Lemon restaurant by Stephen Starr.

A spa and fitness club designed by London’s Joyce Wang Studio, which is the largest in the Equinox portfolio worldwide, has also been launched as part of the offering.

Bedrooms are described as ‘sleep chambers’ and come with bedside iPads and bespoke mattresses made in partnership with Greek firm Coco-Mat.

The spa also contains a cryotherapy chamber, river-facing relaxation pods, and a hair salon.

Equinox Hotel forms part of the first phase of the city’s Hudson Yards development, which was built over an active rail yard on Manhattan’s West Side.
