Construction has started on a $2bn multi-use development in Beverly Hills, which will see a new luxury Aman hotel open in 2027.
The ‘masterplan’ will see a new 78 all suite hotel, Aman-branded residences across two towers and a standalone 100,000 sq ft Aman Club built at the 17.5-acre development located at the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards.
Architecture firm Foster + Partner has now announced the start of construction at the site, after five years of planning.
The existing Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills hotels will be integrated as part of the development. The Beverly Hilton will also benefit from a considerate restoration and significant upgrades.
Two residential buildings, a dining, retail pavilion built, designed in collaboration with design collective, RIOS will form the rest of the ‘masterplan’.
The Aman Beverly Hills will span eight acres of botanical gardens near Rodeo Drive and will focus on health and wellbeing as well as showcasing LA’s native plants.
A netural color palette will be used throughout staying true to the design roots of the Aman brand, plus natural materials including wood and stone.
There will also be an outdoor pool and lounge area and contemporary sculptures throughout the grounds.
Group Chair & CEO Vlad Doronin said: “Aman Beverly Hills captures the essence of the [brand] lifestyle with its minimalist aesthetic, which references Asian design with a European expression.
“This project builds further on the successful opening of New York in 2022, aligned with our strategic direction to bring the brand’s coveted experience to the world’s finest cities.
“We are excited to be working with partners who understand our vision and mission to curate hotels and residences of incredible architectural distinction in the world’s most exceptional locations.”
Beverly Hills is the Group’s fifth urban destination and will follow still-to-come hotels opening in Bangkok in 2024 and Miami Beach in 2026.
