Leonardo DiCaprio’s eco resort to open next year after delays

A new eco-resort owned by Hollywood A-list actor Leonardo DiCaprio is preparing to open its doors in 2020.

Blackadore Caye, situated off the coast of Belize as part of the ‘Mesoamerican Biological Corridor’, will be a resort comprising a hotel, 36 bungalows and 36 estate villas.

Each accommodation option will be equipped with ‘circadian lighting’ and solar panels.

The resort will also feature a research station focused on climate change in an attempt to be the ‘world’s first truly restorative island development’.

The island was bought by DiCaprio and his business partner in 2015 for $1.75m and he has been working on the eco-development ever since.

The resort was originally scheduled to open in 2018 and then was delayed until late 2019.

Now it’s hoped that next year will finally be the launch.
