Luxe Hotels has launched its first property in New York City, opening 98 bedrooms in the former headquarters of Life magazine.

Building on a period of growth for the brand, Luxe Life Hotel New York opened in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood with two experienced New York restaurateurs – Scott Hawley and Michael Gutowski – running the property’s F&B offerings.

The hotel’s signature restaurant is named The Marilyn after Hawley’s grandmother and serves a menu specialising in pasta and seasonal plates.

A new speakeasy will open in the basement of the building this summer.

“We are elated to bring Luxe Hotels’ casual luxury to guests in New York,” said Luxe Hotels Chairman and CEO Efrem Harkham. “Travelers will find exceptional service, as well as value and comfort when they stay at Luxe Life, plus the opportunity to stay in a landmark building with an incredible legacy.”

The launch comes a year after Luxe Hotels opened its first outpost in Europe, rebranding the Rose Garden Palace Hotel in Rome into Luxe Rose Garden Roma.

The company’s flagship, Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel, is due to complete a $4m renovation this spring.

The Luxe Hotels portfolio also includes Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in Los Angeles and Luxe City Center Hotel in Los Angeles.
