A new general manager has been appointed for Hotel Canandaigua, the lakefront Tapestry Collection by Hilton also known as the Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort, ahead of its opening this fall.
Todd Plouffe joins the 109-bedroom hotel from his most recent role as GM of Marriott Syracuse Downtown and boasts previous experience at other hotels under the DoubleTree, Hyatt and Renaissance brands.
Plouffe’s list of accolades include highest guest-rated hotel within a brand, and being named General Manager of the Year in North America four times by Renaissance Hotels.
As part of his new role, he will work directly with management company Hay Creek Hotels to open the waterfront property later this year.
He will oversee the property’s progress from concept to opening, and guide the property in fulfilling its role as a ‘culinary and cultural extension of the Finger Lakes experience’.
Plouffe said: “Historically it has been difficult to get access to one of the area’s most beloved features: our lake. Hotel Canandaigua will make the Finger Lakes waterfront even more accessible to visitors, while giving locals a place to congregate and celebrate together.”
Katie Patnode has also joined the hotel as director of sales and marketing. Having spent more than a decade in hospitality, she was previously with Rochester’s Del Monte Hotel Group as director of sales and events where she worked on both Marriott and Hilton branded properties.
Alongside its bedrooms, Hotel Canandaigua will also be home to a lakeside restaurant, outdoor tiki bar, hotel pool and marina dock, as well as event and wedding space and the Finger Lakes largest ballroom. Reservations are expected to open this month.
