The sustainable hospitality brand, 1Hotels is to open in San Francisco in 2021, a new plan has revealed.

Hotel Vitale, situated on the Embarcadero waterfront overlooking the Bay Bridge, will be transformed into the eco-focused, urban retreat, luxury 1Hotel San Francisco in a $25m complete renovation project.

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and SH Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of Starwood Capital Group, are to develop the new hotel, which they acquired in 2018.

1Hotels, which was founded in 2015, is a New York brand that operates five hotels in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and China with another five in development.

The new 1Hotel San Francisco will boast nature-inspired designs, environmentally-focused furnishings throughout its bedrooms, public areas and meeting and event venues.

The hotel will feature F&B offerings inspired by northern California’s abundance of fresh, organic ingredients.

1Hotel San Francisco will also be home to a spa and fitness center

“1 Hotel San Francisco will be an exciting addition to the city’s luxury hotel experience, as it is rooted in our mission of inspiring conscious consumption,” said 1 Hotels founder and CEO and chairman of Starwood Capital Group, Barry Sternlicht. “San Francisco, with its long-standing history as a leader for sustainable change and its focus on preserving nature, is a perfect fit for the 1 Hotels brand.”
