Restaurateur Sam Fox’s Phoenix hotel gets go-ahead after dispute

Restauranteur Sam Fox, founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts, has been given the all clear for the development of a 100-room hotel on 44th Street, Phoenix.

There was an initial disagreement with neighbors who disliked the proposed 75-foot height of the buildings.

Hours before the Phoenix City Council met to vote, the two parties came to an agreement of a maximum height of 59 feet.

The $300m development will include office buildings, restaurants, a parking garage and a self-storage facility, as well as a practice facility for the Phoenix Suns.

As well as the 100 rooms, the hotel will also include a rooftop lounge.

Fox is the founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts. He recently sold the business for $308 million.

He commented to the Arizona Republic: “It will be really neat. There will obviously be a strong food and beverage component because that’s what we are good at. So that’s obviously an evolution for myself, for some personal growth.”
